Agradecimientos Tesis Doctoral - Doctoral Thesis Acknowledgements

Six years ago I left home with a suitcase full of dreams and hopes, I needed to change my life and the lovely, and unknown to me, city of Krakow was my destination. Throughout these six years, with a 5 months break working at ICMAB, Barcelona, besides developing my PhD in Agricultural Sciences, I have “become” Dr. in Sciences of Life, moving up in my professional and personal life, living away from the people who love me, in a country and society with different manners and habits, people who does not agree my behavior; meeting excellent people, and why not say, not nice people; living awesome days and some not so pretty, days where you were the best one and others wherein you were the worst one; but always fighting to reach the challenge that brought me here. Through this adventure I’ve had the chance to travel and visit cities such as Warsaw (Coldplay Concert), Berlin, Torun, Budapest, Katowice (EuroBasket’09), Liverpool, Wroclaw, Frankfurt, Gdansk (EuroFootball’12), Zakopane... attending International Congresses hosted in Prague, Krakow and Vienna, having the pleasure of meeting prestigious scientists in the field of pesticides as J.Hajslova and S.Lehotay, and sending some of my work to International Congresses held in Italy, Serbia, Spain and Brazil.

Firstly, I would like to thanks Prof. Ewa Cieslik for your welcome at the Univerity of Agriculture in Krakow six years ago and supervision along the years of my doctorate; also thanks to Dr. Anna Sadowska-Rociek for supporting me during the first years of my stay and introducing me into the exciting field of pesticides.

I want to express my most sincere thanks to Marek (Head of Labotest, Torun) and Blazej, work with you was a great experience, I learnt a lot working with you; thanks also for your support outside the lab and the time you took to show me around Torun.

A special greeting goes to Mustafa, your stay in the lab was too short, but I feel that the friendship will be for life. Keep your hospitability and good humour forever.

Anecia, Tomek and Janek, having friends like you is a treasure. Thanks also to Malutka

My Family, cousins Inma, Jose, Lucia and Rafa, uncles Manolo and Fali, and mainly my aunts Pepi and Angelitas, thank you for your love, confidence and support, particularly in tough times, for sharing significant moments with me and for always being willing to listen and help at any time.

My Grandmother, I could never thank enough all you have done for me throughout your life... I have always been lucky to say I have two mothers... My Grandfather, you remain always in my thoughts, thank you, you were a big man...

Few words to Juanma, life does not smile to us as we would like, but we have to be strong and keep fighting… let’s keep the good times, because the bad come alone.

Adriana and Sergio, my Niece and Nephew, thanks for giving me great affectation, love and happiness, because your smile is capable of lighting up the cloudiest day, because I love you madly. Tito Juan is back soon

Angela and Inma, my Sisters, the life has beaten us, but it is no time to look back, let’s enjoy the second chance the life has given us… Look at the stars look how they shine for you and all the things that you do… You are my HERO and you an EXAMPLE… Always look on the bright side of the life… Never give up, keep fighting

My Parents, awaiting my return to home, the life is being too hard with you… Be proud as I am proud of you, enjoy this success as it was yours, my success is your success… Thanks to your attitude, patience, understanding, sacrifice and watch me with a unique care and emotional support, I am the person and the professional I am today…

Finally, I want to express my gratitude to YOU, green eyes, cause you are the rock upon I stand, you are the sea upon which I float… Big part of this Thesis is YOUR, because you always were there when I felt lonely, you always gave me a solution when I had a trouble, you always motivated me when I thought giving up… The road appeared often enough endlessly, but thanks to your support, encouragement, confidence and love I realize that time passes much faster, you made me feel home away from my home and made my stay in Krakow, and definitely my life, much more easy, enjoyable and happy.
